I used to be a total fiend about collecting quarters. I would spend my pennies, nickels and dimes in a way to maximize the amount of quarters that I would receive in my change. I would never ever spend any quarters. Those would be saved for pinball, shooting pool, pay phones, parking meters and laundry machines.
It is rare these days that I find myself in bars with pinball machines and pool tables. I have a cell now, so my need for pay phones is nonexistent. And I got rid of my car; even so, muni meters are replacing parking meters.
The last reason to hoard quarters was my laundry. Laundry prices rose and I became militant about every quarter. Boymeat would always laugh at me and my strict rules about keeping all quarters. But I always had enough quarters to do my laundry!
So, last month my building renovated its laundry room. The machines now take a card which has a microchip that records the money that I add to it. $5’s, $10’s and $20’s. Paper money that I always have on hand. Currency which I do not have to work my life around.
I now I am free to spend my quarters willy nilly without worry. Today I bought Boymeat a Homie out of a gum ball machine. He said he got a good one.
On the way to Baltimore, we stopped in Philadelphia at the Black Phoenix. This is the new BDSM play club opened by Shibari Warrior. Located on the top floor of an industrial building in an industrial area, there’s a big freight elevator to bring people up. The space is open Wednesday through Sunday with classes, discussion groups, and play parties. You can buy a quarterly membership or you can pay as you go. There are opportunities to work and get free passes.
The play area is huge. It’s 10,000 square feet. In addition there is a 5000 square foot social area with a dedicated classroom area.
This photo is halfway into the play space. There’s a nice variety of equipment and a good amount of room between pieces. In the back, behind the screen, is a long whip area.

There is an additional 10,000 square feet of junk that Shibari Warrior is working on cleaning out. He wants to eventually have 20,000 square feet of play space. Wow!
Of course, there are rules!

These sex offender laws are so stupid! This woman was convicted at 17 for having oral sex with a 15 year old male classmate and now, 11 years later, she is being harassed wherever she lives. I’m glad she is suing the federal government about this. She’s not a predator.
I joined Ace and Jocasta on a road trip to Baltimore. The main reason for our trip was the Erotic Arts Festival which was held Friday and Saturday nights. Jo set up a table there on Saturday night to sell her rope.
Friday night featured Annie Sprinkle, some burlesque and the 1950’s Cheesecake Contest. Saturday night featured more Annie Sprinkle, bondage and a hook suspension. Jo and I tied some people up. I also did a single tail scene. It was really hot and sweaty, because there was no A/C on the hottest weekend of the year. I once again approached Annie Sprinkle about my 100 Divas list and she was interested but there was no time. One of these days…

On Saturday, we did some shopping in the Mt Vernon area.
We went to Artscape, which is a huge outdoor fair. I saw something I really liked and it turns out the artist lives across the street from me.
