A WET BUT HAPPY LEATHER RETREAT

One of my favorite events is Leather Retreat,

affectionately called “camp.” This year they held it

at a different camp. The food was much better.

The facilities for activities are not as plentiful. The

cabins are not as nice, but the beds are infinitely

better. However, the owners, management and

staff were friendly and really great! Thumbs up for

the new camp! Thumbs down for the weather,

which was a lot of rain! And a lot of mud!

Once again I organized the Oink Cabin. Who you

share a cabin with at camp is very important. I like

sharing with people who are considerate. It also

did not hurt that two cabin mates brought a sling

for our cabin. Our biggest drama is that our cabin

decoration, a stuffed pig, was kidnapped on

Thursday. We were left a ransom note in its place.

After a cabin meeting, we drafted a statement from

the occupants of Oink Cabin. Barbara Nitke, our

official Oink Cabin Spokesperson, read the

statement at lunch on Friday. It basically said that

the pig was not a pet, just livestock, and that we

were not emotionally attached to it. And that the

only reason that the pig even made it to camp this

year was because he somehow miraculously

survived last year. Enjoy the pig. It is the policy

of Oink Cabin not to negotiate. We got the pig

back and nobody bothered with it again. By

Sunday it was wallowing in the mud outside our

cabin and a whole bunch of us had pissed on it.

The pig will definitely not be with us next year.

On Wednesday I taught a class called “Beating

Ass” and Neptune walked away with marks that

lasted a whole week. After dinner, we attended

the Meet & Greet which was a big circle with lots of

questions. I cheated and passed the embarrassing

ones to Neptune. Later in the evening, we had

some sling action in the dungeon.

On Thursday, Neptune taught the first of two

Florentine Flogging classes. I just sat and watched.

In the afternoon, I clippered his hair down into a

Mohawk. He looked so fierce! I napped until dinner.

After dinner, I participated in the NCSF Coalition

Partner call. There were three CP reps at camp and

we all did the call together.

I sent Neptune to the Naked Men’s Party,

someplace I was not allowed to go to. He was

totally naked, but I added boots, his leather

motorcycle jacket and a collar with bells on. Yum

yum! He looked woofy. He came back later and we

went down to the bonfire on the only camp night

without rain. We had s/mores. Interestingly

enough, he told me more women groped him at

the bonfire than men at the men’s party.

On Friday afternoon, I taught my “Taking It Up The

Ass” class. I got thru all the why’s and the how’s

and was just finishing up the safety so we could get

to the demo, when one of the attendees passed out.

Luckily, Neptune and another medical team staffer

were both there to help. An ambulance was called

to camp and everything turned out okay. It is

interesting that the majority of medical incidents at

camp and at other events is not related to play.

I was still feeling frisky, so Boymeat and I played

outside under a tree. I beat the crap out of him.

First his back with floggers and then he turned

around so I could punch his chest. We ended with

a single tail. And then it began to rain.

Friday night was Mardi Gras night with the Stripper

Showcase. I told Neptune weeks earlier that I

wanted him to enter. I babbled to him with ideas

of what to do and what to wear until he said,

“Master, please do not micromanage me.” So, I

backed off and did not think about it …much. I was

so excited when the time finally came. He chose

Kid Rock for his music, a song that started slow.

He came out moving slowly and bowed to each of

the judges. He wore jeans, a t-shirt, a button

down and dark sunglasses. He stripped off the

shirt and the jeans and then whipped the

sunglasses off and tossed them behind right into

the pool! He was very acrobatic with a lot of

tumbling and fancy moves that wowed the crowd.

And he stripped down all the way to a jockstrap

and then did a back flip with a twist right into the

pool. He stayed down a little while and came back

out without the jockstrap but wearing the sunglasses.

Woo woo! He tied for first place. I was very proud

of my studly boy.

On Saturday morning, I went to the Pamporium.

The Pamporium is like a spa. It is staffed by campers

doing their “chores.” Everyone at camp has 2 two

hour shifts of chores to do. There is a big variety of

jobs, including working at the Pamporium. I had a

facial first and then a foot massage and then a hot

waxing. I really lucked out with the wax because

they had an extra volunteer. So I was waxed by a

couple (Lucinda and Jason) – twice the pampering!

Ah!

In the afternoon, with the rain still on, I put

Neptune in the sling back at our cabin and did some

electrical play with him. We had a lot of cool action

in our cabin. The auction was held Saturday night.

We had won a bunch of money but did not want to

buy anyone. We gave our money to a good friend

and headed to the Barn, where I strung Neptune up

by his ankles. We then continued up to the big

dungeon and I negotiated for me and Neptune to be

suspended in Abilina’s rope and metal cage. We got

to spend some alone time above all the action.

Later that night, after midnight snacks, I gave Peace

her birthday spanking in my bed. My bed was a big

inflatable mattress on to of two regular twin beds

pushed together. I had four pillows and two flannel

top sheets and two comforters. It was very cozy

and a nice place to play. Peace liked her spanking

and I liked delivering it.

Peace had told Lucinda about the morning ritual

(coffee and canes). Lucinda loved that idea and

asked Neptune if she could bring me coffee and

partake in the morning caning. Neptune floated

the idea past me and I gave him the go-ahead to

negotiate on my behalf. I also told him to have her

bring a coffee for him as well. 8:15am! On vacation

and he tells her eight fucking fifteen AM. “But Sir,

you have a 10am play date.”

Sunday morning at 8:15am, Lucinda showed up

with coffee for us. I propped my self up with all the

pillows, sipped coffee and caned Lucinda. You know

how they teach you to “read your bottom?” Well,

reading Lucinda is a piece of cake; she smiles and

wiggles and coos.

The 10am play date was with a piss scene with

Boymeat. Only a dork schedules piss play at that

hour of the morning. But we went to breakfast and

I drank three cans of orange soda and then two

bottles of orange-carrot Snapple. Boymeat lay

down in the mud outside our cabin and various

people took turns pissing on him. I could not go

right away. I just kept drinking. Morning piss play

is not optimal for me. I like to let it out real slow

and make it last a long time. Boymeat had told us

all from the neck down. My favorite spot to pee is

right on the chest where it will run down to that little

nook in his neck right above the sternum and

overflow. Others took their turns. By the end of the

scene, I had to go again, because once I start going

I can keep going. Poor Boymeat was getting a little

cold out there in the mud and asked me to pee on

his legs to warm them up. I obliged and then did his

toes. In the end, he broke last year’s record with 12

people pissing on him.

The weather had cleared up a bit and lunch was

outside with a Renn Faire theme. There were all

sorts of activities with a wandering poet and a

chess challenge and a mime and more. The

weather had thrown the schedule off and now

Sunday was packed with the Renn Faire, the SM

Games and the Pony Show. This meant that the

Pamporium had open slots. I felt that it would be

disastrous f those volunteers did not have

appointments so Neptune and I left the crowds

behind and got Henna tattoos from Amy. I got a

beautiful heart with vines on my hand and

Neptune got a Charlie Brown armband. These

tattoos last about 2 weeks or so. We followed

that with side-by-side foot massages. Purry

Rascal did a great job on my feet. FemCar was

supposed to do Neptune’s feet but instead

obtained permission from her Master and from me

to spend the half hour sucking Neptune’s dick.

Cool! I relaxed and watched my own little porn

show.

We then headed over to the Pony Show which I

love to watch. The show was great with a lot of

diversity. Star (aka Lucinda) won Most Promising

Novice and gave me a ride in a cart. After only two

days of training, she was quite the ponygirl.

Before camp, Neptune asked for permission to set

up a scene to surprise me. I agreed because I trust

him and I knew he would figure out something fun.

Something fun turned out to be Julia. They “did” me

good. We went out and visited “neighbors”

and came back to our bed to find our 1:30am date

already in my bed. We “did” her good and then we

all slept cuddled together.

Monday was the last day and the weather was

finally sunny! We got our towels and jumped in the

pool. The water was very chilly. And then, “Daddy,

my clit is dirty.” So, we walked up the hill to the

PCW (Portable Clit Washer). It is a powerful stream

of heated water with a shower head. There was a

piece of bondage furniture and it was just lovely on

a sunny day. Perfect, except for one thing: it was

situated right outside the men only cabin. Oy!

Soon after, we packed up the car and headed

home.

John Ferrari passed away last Friday. He was an

activist, a player and a gentleman. He is survived

JOHN PASCERELLA

It is today that I learned of the passing of “John

Pascerella”. The former operator of J’s Hangout, on

14th Street & Hudson Street. John leaves behind

his lover “Dennis” & his brother. John will surely be

missed, Some of the older members of our community

may remember him from, Hell, The Desert Rat, The

Mine Shaft, & The Stable. He was a man who

appreciated community Values and appreciated our

struggles.

NCSF HOTEL OUTREACH PROJECT

CWA attacks are continuing against hotels that

host SM events. The CWA has a petition up now

targeting IML that will be sent to their host hotels.

NCSF is producing an outreach booklet about

alternative lifestyle events and the hospitality

industry. If your group has had an especially

good experience with a particular hotel manager

or convention director, NCSF is asking that that

hospitality industry professional be solicited for a

letter or email commenting on their hotel’s

experience with your group and event. NCSF

would like to include some of this feedback from

places we patronize by way of demonstrating that

hotels have good experiences with alternative

lifestyle groups that they book.

The deadline for this project is short. NCSF hopes

to collect endorsements, feedback statements, and

positive comments during the weeks of June 9 and

June 16. (next 2 weeks).

Your timely assistance is very important in helping

NCSF respond to some time-sensitive concerns in

the hospitality industry. If you area an event

organizers, please call or email your favorite hotel

or convention managers *immediately*, and ask

if they would provide comments about your group

in email or on letterhead (letterhead is fine but not

necessary; email is more convenient and quicker to

work with).

Please be sure to inform the hotel representative

that NCSF will be reproducing some of thecollected

comments in an informational brochure, and that

the individual’s name and official title (and their

hotel name, of course) are needed on the comments.

Follow up on this later in the week, so that your

hotel contact provides feedback in a timely manner.

(Comments that arrive more than a couple weeks

out may arrive too late to be of immediate

assistance, though they may still be of use in future

projects).

ROAD TRIP TO DC

Neptune and I hit the road to Washington, DC

on Wednesday. We love traveling in the car.

Car time is quality time. It is when we do some

of our best talking. We stayed with the Bitch of

Dupont Circle. Her sorority house is a very

welcoming place for us and she is a great host.

One highlight of the trip were going to Dave &

Busters with AJ. The three of us in kid mode.

Whee! Also went to dyke night at the DC Eagle

which had a nice turnout with both old friends and

new.

On Friday night we went to The Crucible. We

were impressed with the upgrades that Frazier has

done to the place – especially the ladies room.

We had busted our butts to get there early for the

Suspension class with Lew Rubens and Maria

Shadoes (www.boundndetermined.com). They

were late and did more of a demo than a class. I

tied Neptune in a hog-tie and sat back and watched

him struggle to get out. Then, together, we topped

an ABW titleholder. We won’t say who so as to

protect their gay/lesbian status… And

then the two of us spanked AJ with her new

ToyBag paddle.

BOYMEAT’S VIEW OF THE IML CONTEST

This year’s International Mr. Leather contest was

the 25th anniversary of the fabled institution, so a

big show was expected by all. And a big show was

delivered.

After a lovely opening act that included hunky

men dressed in leather shorts and masks in a

grand power struggle, the festivities truly begun.

Chuck Renslow, the founder of the original Gold

Coast Leather Bar (now the Chicago Eagle) and

IML, came out for his traditional opening speech.

Some people attend the conference to see the

hunky men, parade on the stage. Some people

attend to root for their local titleholder. Others yet

come for the entertainment. While I go for a

combination of the above, Chuck’s speech is

always something that I look forward to.

Chuck spoke of the leather scene’s great

successes, giving wonderful attention to the

growing understanding and appreciation of the

bootblack community, and the burgeoning

leather-boy clubs. He then spoke of the issues

that still surround us. The first he talked about

was the ever-existent dangers involved in

barebacking. Chuck spoke very poignantly about

this topic – “Some people would call barebacking

an informed personal decision. I call it stupid.”

The next topic he spoke about was the abuse of

party drugs. In the past year, we have seen too

many deaths caused by drug overdoses…. and

have heard and read of many other near deaths.

Chuck spoke up against this… asked of those in

the audience who planned on making drugs a part

of their evening’s festivities to look around them,

take note of who is sitting next to them, because it

may be the last time they’ll ever see them again. (I

should note that during the weekend, I was almost

attacked by someone off his rocker on crystal meth,

right in the hotel lobby.)

When all the contestants were out on stage, Guy

Baldwin came out to speak about the Leather

Archives & Museum (Located in Chicago, Serving

the World). In one year, the Archives will need to

pay the lump sum payment at the end of the

mortgage. Guy asked the audience to their best to

help pay off the sum. He suggested that all

fundraising for the year go to the Archives – a

valiant thought, but, impractical considering the

many places money is needed (the National

Coalition for Sexual Freedom certainly comes to

mind).

With that, Mr. Marcus came out and did his

traditional role of announcing the 20 finalists (there

were a total of 58 contestants this year). Now, it

must be said here… everyone who stands up there

on that stage deserves praise and respect just for

that alone. I remember when running for Gotham

Leatherman just how stressful and nerve-racking it

is to be standing to be judged. But, there must be

finalists. Us NY’ers sat on the edge of our seats

as one by one names got called out… all of the

Europeans, Texas, Chicago, California… and then,

finally… number 17 out of 20… our own Mr. LURE

Walt Weiss made the cut!

While I hear the entertainment was great, AJ and

I took the breaks as a chance to run out for a

smoke and hang out with all our friends in the

Congress Theater lobby! It’s always great to see

everyone in their finest leathers, cruising and

groping! I did a bit of that myself…

David Hawks came out to announce the

International Mr. Bootblack contest. The outgoing

Mr. Bootblack, NY’s Michael Lanzini had a lovely

step-down speech and spoke of his growth over the

year. To assist Michael in crowing the new winner,

Kari, the current International Ms. Bootblack walked

across the stage. She looked absolutely ravishing in

her hobble skirt and brand new Dehners… all the

boys were whistling and cat calling! When it was

all said and done, the muscled hunk from San

Francisco, Richie Chameroy took the title! After the

contest, all the contestants posed with Michael,

David, Kari, and the contest assistants in a group

photo. The photographers were certainly busy… I

lost count when they took the twelfth photo! Poor

Cristo, Mid-Atlantic Leather Bootblack (who was

there assisting), blinked for a long time after that.

NCSF had a banner year at this IML. Two

contestants chose to talk about the group in their

judged speeches on stage (quote of the night –

Donate today, suck dick tomorrow). Stephen

Weber, IML ’02 in his step-down speech

announced that he has signed up to be a NCSF

spokesperson! He’ll be working on the LEOP

program, promoting education to gay police

organizations. Thank you Stephen!!!!

Finally… it came down to the grand conclusion,

the sashing of International Mr. Leather 2003. 2nd

runner up is Stephen Blackwell from Los Angeles,

who spoke very eloquently about how boys can

also be leathermen (Stephen is the founder of the

LA Boys of Leather.) 1st runner up is Donald

Detson of Florida. International Mr. Leather 2003

is John Pendal, of London, a tall, woofy redhead!

England.. that is one heck of a drive!

Bill Stadt and company put on an amazing show

for their 25th anniversary year! And once again,

Frank Nowicki did an excellent job as MC… being

called by many that weekend the Premier Leather

emcee.

PALMER HOUSING AT IML

Every year I write about how, to me, the contest is not

the main reason to go to IML. And every year I go to the

contest and write a little about it, but a lot about the rest

of the weekend. This year, I missed the contest! On

Sunday afternoon, I started getting cranky and tired at

the CHC cocktail party. How weird because I was really

pacing myself this year. I went up to my room and

crawled into bed with stuffy sinuses and a fever. Next

week’s P+P will carry a write up of the contest by

Boymeat.

Meanwhile, despite my little illness, I had a great time

at IML It was much less frenetic than usual. We arrived

on Thursday and eased into the event. Opening

Ceremonies was our first chance to take a gander at the

56 contestants. Oh, hello, the guy from Bavaria with the

tattoos? Yum!

On Friday, we started out in the vendor market at Noon

with the Bootblacks. Back in 1999, the bootblack

community was torn by gender when the International

Bootblack contest was split into the International Mr

Bootblack contest and the International Ms Bootblack

contest. As a show of solidarity, the first shine at IML

is the male bootblack contestants shining the boots of

female bootblacks and supporters. I was honored to sit

in Bootdog’s chair. He did a great job on my oil-tanned

Wesco’s. (Hint: if you just scritch him behind his ear,

he gets really friendly.) Have you seen his site?

updated it in a dog’s age.

We checked out the vendor mart. Over 100 vendors! I

bought Neptune and Cherry autographed coloring books

from The Hun (perfect for kinky age play). I bought myself

some new reading material: Jack Rinella’s new book,

“Partners in Power, Living in Kinky Relationships,” Tim

Brough’s Black Gloves, White Magic” and Instigator

magazine. I also bought a black leather scented candle

from Leatherstock. Boymeat bought Georgia Boots from

LeatherWerks and a Utlikilt.

My favorite restaurant near the Palmer House Hilton is

Miller’s. We ate a few meals there. We dragged Mr

Kevin to lunch there. When I first saw Mr Kevin two years

ago, I took an instant dislike to him. But then I met him

at Dungeon last year and got to know him a little bit, and

oh boy, is he a sweet, smart, talented, cute guy and

totally not full of himself at all.

Friday was family dinner night. Let me tell you a secret

about leather families. After a while, if they don’t fall

apart, there’s drama. I met my leather family in 1995.

We are very adept at skirting around the drama. Certain

people sit at one end of the table and certain others sit

at the other end. Everybody is on their best behavior or

else they get sent to their rooms. After dinner, we did a

little party hopping at the hotel. Most of our time was

spent at the Bootblack party, but we were sure to stop

in at the Int’l LeatherSir/boy party, too.

On Saturday, we went to the Leather Archives &

Museum member meeting. Robert Davolt gave an

excellent presentation on Uniforms and how they have

influenced the leather community. The big news is that

the leaks are fixed and the balloon payment of $200K

is due a year from now. Boymeat and I then went to do

a volunteer shift at the NCSF booth. We talked to a lot

of people about NCSF’s projects and sold raffle tickets

for Intl LeatherSir/boy and Black Rose – something for

everyone! It seems that NCSF is becoming more

widely known out there and that is a good thing.

Saturday night, I had a hot date with Mommy Cara. I

kicked everyone out of my room because she wanted

some privacy for us. One of those dates where I can’t

kiss and tell…..

On Sunday, Boymeat and I did our annual solicitation

for Leather Pride Night. We got some awesome

And then on Sunday night I got sick. Ugh!

VOLUNTEERING FOR LPN

The 20th Annual Leather Pride Night is Saturday, June

14 at The Puck Building, 293 Lafayette St, just south of

Houston St, NYC. This year’s event benefits the NYC

Gay & Lesbian Anti-Violence Project, Foundation for

Research on Sexually Transmitted Disease (FROST’D),

Pride Center of New Jersey, Teens Prepared for Life,

NYC AIDS Monument Committee and Heritage of Pride.

Last year over 150 people volunteered to help out at

LPN. Most shifts are only one hour so people can easily

find the time to do it. It is always amazing to us that

LPN volunteers come back and volunteer again every year.

They do it with their friends and they make new friends

and they help make a very important night in the NYC

SM-leather-fetish community a huge success.

TES FEST

TES Fest was a huge success. TES made a

bit of money, people had a really good time and

we had no problems with the police or the ABC

or the press. Whew! The organization really

needed a win. To tell you the truth, I needed a

win, too. I had busted my ass to do great

programming for TES30 and all anyone could

talk about TES30 was the negative stuff. It

bummed me out – I never even wrote a review.

TES Fest programming, while only half the

number of workshops (54), was raved about by

everybody there. Yay!

There were a lot of other events going on in

NYC and I would have liked to have gone to

more of them. As it is, I got to just one and

that was the Michele Serchuck opening at

Purple Passion/DV8 Friday evening. Her work

was all photos of Midori and Midori’s bondage.

I bought a color print. Laura Antoniou was

doing a booksigning there also, but we left

before she got there.

O was up for the weekend. Basically this was

her triumphant return to NYC. And in many

ways, we were back together just like old times.

Finally! She presented workshops, made me

cookies and dinner (all slop), and used my

slaveboy. On Friday night, I flogged her and

whipped her for the first time in over two years.

She bruised nicely and her cuts were beautiful.

She wore a low cut shirt to show off the next day.

On Sunday night, I put her in a sling and, well,

ya know… (Hi Al!)

On Saturday, I assisted O with a guided ritual

in her spirituality workshop. She cast a circle

and talked Neptune through a balancing journey

while I pierced four of his charka points. On

Sunday I presented Fisting and demoed with

Julia. I have a play date with her for

Leather Retreat.

TES Fest had rented Paddles for the entire

weekend but I never made it down there. The

dungeon at the Hotel Pennsylvania was really

super. Frazier of The Crucible has a knack for

transforming a hotel ballroom into a fabulous

playspace. He has great equipment, good

lighting and knows how to do a workable layout

and create ambiance. Frazier and I were the

co-auctioneers for the Celebrity Auction which

raised over $1500 for NCSF and the Robin

Quimby Memorial Fund. I was bought by

Jason, the Vice Chair of TES Fest

Programming. Jason was fabulous to work with.

He made my job so much easier. He is a wiz

with data management. Actually the whole

crew with workshops was great. SusieQ and

Lady D helped at the event and we were

marvelously assisted by Carla, James and

Pete from Ops.

Anyway my scene with Jason was put off to a

time when we would both have less distractions

and more energy for each other. But we did do

a long term bondage scene. From Friday

afternoon through Sunday night, he wore my

locked metal collar and cuffs. Beautiful, bulky

but lightweight, black aircraft aluminum. 51

hours! Yum!

100 DIVAS – NUMBER THREE

I am on the case with my 100 Divas.

Saturday night at TES Fest, Fifth Angel said,

“So I’ve been reading about these spankings,

and my birthday is May 28….” Ya! Gender

does not matter with my Divas project. I took

him over my knee in the TES Fest dungeon and

gave him a warm-up and then 38 plus one for

good luck and a pinch to grow an inch.

Afterwards, his butt was all tingly and he was

all giggly and happy. Hey, Fifth, that’s why

people bottom!

LIFE WITH SLAVEBOY – LEASHES

I love that Neptune is independent, that he can

take on community projects and teach and

socialize without me. But sometimes, I want

him with me, focused on me. This happens

more easily when we are doing our day to day

stuff. However, at events, he gets sidetracked

and people expect attention from him. Usually

I do not mind that but sometimes I want him

with me. So, I tried putting him on a leash at

TES Fest. Having the visible connection, gave

others a clue that he was unavailable, or at least

less available, to them.

I never liked leashes for non-play situations.

I felt them to be a pain in the ass for me, the top.

But now they have a utilitarian aspect for me.

O and I woke with the alarm at 5am on Monday

morning. “I think I hear a coffee grinder,” she

When the NYC street traffic dies down and

there are no calls, he can sneak away. I am a

lucky girl.

I’M BAAACK!

Wow! What a vacation. I came back fully rested but now once again I

am swamped with all sorts of deadlines.

I spent my vacation sailing the British Virgin Islands on a 46 foot sloop

with Peggy aka O, her parents and Midori. O’s parents are a hoot.

Earl makes loads of bad puns and then Al hits him. We see from where

O gets her SM inclinations. Al, a long time subscriber to the P+P, has

over the years asked O such questions as “What’s a buttplug?” and

“What do you do in a sling?” It is interesting to have my girlfriend’s

Mom reading about our exploits. (Hi Al!)

We got to do a lot of fun things. Midori and I did some scuba diving,

including a two tank dive to The Rhone. We also snorkeled with O,

climbed a trail to explore the Baths at Virgin Gorda, read a lot and swam.

We ate great food: everything from lobsters to conch fritters to this kick

ass risotto in Leverick Bay.

Midori was fortunate to spend her birthday with us. I found a service

with a boat delivery that brought us a birthday cake and we surprised her.

Because she had no submissive to substitute and take her spankings, O

and I delivered them to her. Midori with a red butt! She has pictures!

AMERICAN BROTHERHOOD WEEKEND 2003

Last June, Frank Nowicki, Max Steiner, Scott Reikofski, and Schelli

Dittmann became the new producers of American Brotherhood Weekend

taking over for Jim Cobb. I had been to ABW first in 1998 and last year JP

hooked me up with Jim and the ABW staff who very graciously took me in

and allowed me to work a few security shifts. Having as much fun as I did

last year I knew that I wanted to return and maybe do some volunteer time

this year.

With the new change of leadership, I am sure that a lot of people were

waiting around to see how the new ABW crew would workout. There are a

lot of people out there who hate change and were probably waiting for a

disaster. All that I can say is keep waiting if you must waste your time.

Change is good and this was an amazing weekend. I have never been so

proud and so honored to work with such an amazing group of people. In

just four short days I have managed to fall in love. These folks know what

they are doing and really know how to throw an event. Most important is

that they know how to treat staff and volunteers. The people who work with

the ABW team are treated with respect and dignity. While I know that

some people take offense about this being a gay event, this event needs

to be supported and embraced by all as a means to honor and support

the gay leather community.

I have noticed that in our community there are a ton of self proclaimed

Tops, Daddies, Mommies and Masters who spew on and on about the

importance of family. What is coming out of their mouths in no way shape

or form reflects what is actually in their hearts. When the ABW people

folks talk about family they mean it. This is truly a leather family event

and reunion. There is care and concern not just for the community at

large, but also for individuals.

The event started on Wednesday night at the Eagle with early

registration. This was a great chance to meet a lot of folks before the

weekend went into full swing. Thursday folks met up at Titan for a fun

night of drinks and the Feygele Feud pitting the IML’s against the ABW’s.

By Friday the event was in full swing with eye openers, cocktail parties,

receptions and off site play parties. On Saturday a very special

celebration of brotherhood was held for Jeff Baxter and Brian “Pup”

Mullikin. It was officiated by Judy Tallwing (thanks for listening to my

cat stories) and Al Santora (thanks for making me eat dinner). It was a

very nice ceremony bringing together many traditions. There were not

too many dry eyes in the house. Saturday night was a buffet dinner and

the basket auctions. The basket auctions were a lot of fun with Lenny

Broberg and Jo Arnone (thanks for teaching me how to eat beef jerky)

as the Auctioneers. The auction raised money that will be split among

the new ABW family for their travel funds (I am not sure of the amount

since I accidentally packed my notes). Funds were also raised for Judy

Tallwing’s Dandelion animal shelter in Washington State.

On Sunday the event continued with more eye openers and the

conclusion of the event. Bill Mitchell from San Diego is the new American

Leatherman, sheryl dee from San Diego is the New American

Leatherwoman and Boy Jeff from San Francisco is the new American

leatherboy. A California sweep!

At the end of the month I will be leaving DC and moving back to Chicago.

ABW was my last big outing as a DC resident and I would like to thank

the following ABW people for their friendship, encouragement and support.

Max, Schelli, Scott, Ryan and Jerry: Thank you for a wonderful event and

a wonderful weekend. Thank you for letting me in and giving me the space

to work. Thank you for taking a chance on me. Thank you for the hugs and

for sharing yourselves. Thank you for saying thank you, I look forward to

doing this again.

MJ, JP, Alex, Gloria, Ken, and Mike KZ: You guys rock! I have enjoyed

getting to know each one of you. Our talents are so varied, yet I feel as if

I were part of a World Series team getting to work with and hang out with

you. Let’s do it again.

And of course to my friend Lolita who every now and again let’s me write

articles for the P&P. Thank you for being patient with me, thank you for

giving me a place to put words to my feelings, and a big thank you for

making me up my standards.

PADDLES IS OPEN AGAIN

Paddles reopened again Friday night. The Oriental room with the red

furniture is not included as that is part of Pandora’s Box which remains

closed. The other change is that no on-site created foods (milkshakes,

waffles, etc.) is being served. They still sell sodas, brownies, etc. They

are working on the permit to serve food. I want my ice cream! But this

is great news – I am so happy that Paddles is back!

NCSF WINNER GOES TO IML 2003

The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom recently held a raffle for a Trip

for Two to the 25th Anniversary of the International Mr. Leather Contest.

NCSF raised over $2700 through this raffle! “NCSF wishes to thank Bill

Stadt and the International Mr. Leather organization for making this

fundraiser possible,” said Glenda Rider. “We’d also like to thank everyone

who participated by selling and buying tickets.”

Over 31 individuals and groups sold tickets, with Avatar Los Angeles

selling the most at $715. Ticket sales at the Leather Leadership

Conference 7 in Boston brought in $500 and the American Brotherhood

Weekend in Washington, DC brought in $880. Jack Rinella sold the

winning ticket to Lynn Schornick of Waukegan, IL.

International Mr. Leather 2003 (IML) celebrates its 25th Anniversary,

Thursday, May 22 through Monday, May 26, 2003 (Memorial Day

Weekend) in Chicago. About 400 gay leathermen gathered in Chicago in

1979 for the first IML contest. Today, the event has grown to be an

annual tradition for thousands in the leather community – drawing

contestants and attendees from around the globe.

THE STATE OF THE P+P

The P+P never made it out last week. I was just too swamped.

Part of the reason I was so swamped is that I finalized the

program for TES Fest. There will be 54 workshops! See the

This P+P is a double issue because I am going to be out of the

country for a week so don’t expect another one until week after

next.

LOLITA DOES LLC

The 7th annual Leather Leadership took place in Boston. The

event gets better and better every year. I especially enjoyed the

new way of doing the Caucuses. Instead of breaking us up by

region, we were broken up randomly. We sat in tables of 10 and

introduced ourselves to each other and then wrote three statements

about ourselves on paper: two truths and a lie. I wrote that I am a

famous writer, I am a vegetarian and that I have a dial up modem.

We then came to a consensus on what we believed were the three

greatest issues in the community today. We picked fear of

discrimination, religious extremists and educating newcomers

into our community.

I also really enjoyed the seminars and learned. My favorite

seminar was ”When The Stuff Hits The Fan: Managing Under Fire”

with Larry Manion and Kayte where they spoke about Beat Me in

St Louis’ tactics with the press and the hotel after being harassed

by the CWA. There was also an inclusion track with some great

workshops.

The other great thing about LLC is the networking. I was able

to connect with old friends from around the country as well as

meet some new people. Patrick Califia and I acknowledged

some old “unfinished business.” Tom Stice and I talked and

hugged. I had a hot date with a local girl.

LIFE WITH SLAVEBOY

This week we had our first house guest: Mommy Cara from

LA. We did Cabaret on Broadway, Matthew Barney at the

Guggenheim and the Empire State Building. We went to a

fabulous Leather Seder, went to the gym and the grocery store.

And more, but we won’t kiss and tell. Not this week.

WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH PADDLES

Paddles is/was the only public play space right now in NYC and

it would be devastating for us to lose it. There are a lot of rumors

of what is going on. Some sources say it was shut down by the

health department. Some say that there are certificate of occupancy

problems. Is it one connected space with the club upstairs?

We obviously don’t know just how long it will take to resolve this

situation. TES moved last week’s party to the Nutcracker and is

hosting another one there on Saturday night. We are all

watching this very closely.

INT’L MR & MS DEAF LEATHER & DEAR BEAR/CUB CONTESTS

The 13th Annual International Ms. & Mr. Deaf Leather and the

Deaf Bear/Cub contest will be held Wednesday June 4 through

Friday, June 6 in conjunction with The Rainbow Alliance of the

Deaf, Inc. Conference in Orlando, FL. Wednesday: Meet and

Greet & Farewell Roast Party at the Full Moon Saloon at 11 PM

to introduce the contestants and judges. Thursday: VIP Dinner at

5pm and the IDL/DBCO contest will begin at 8pm followed by a

Victory celebration at the Full Moon Saloon Bar.

The competitions will be held at the Orlando Marriott Downtown

Hotel Ballroom. The emcees are Jose Granda (International Mr.

Deaf Leather 1994) and John Lytle (Mr. Central Canada Drummer

1992). The judge panel includes William “Bam” Coleman

Do you want to volunteer at TES Fest as a DM? Here are the

requirements:

1. An interest in helping the community by supporting safe play

2. Willingness to spend at least one 4 hour shift at one of the

party play spaces.

3. Willingness to give up an afternoon to attend the DM training

class.

Both experienced players and new people are needed. Top or

bottom, dominant or submissive, people in all roles work

successfully as DM’s. TES DMs work in pairs (so you need not

fear being all alone and not knowing what to do). Newer people

are paired with more experienced people.

Q. I have been given the task of finding wooden clothespins

that are American made. It is proving a difficult job. Do you know

of any way to find American made clothespins?

A. The vanishing American Clothespin is harder and harder to

find, however there are a few places. Wal-Mart carries big 100 pin

bags of American Made clothespins in many of their stores. You

can find them under the Pliney brand or other brands. Additionally

the Diamond company still manufactures clothespins here in the

USA. American pins are usually made of harder wood and have

better springs than the Chinese imitations. Also they have fewer

splinters.

Q. What effect, if any, does electrotorture to the male

genitals have on sperm production? Both immediate and

long-term.

** I asked Rory from Oklahoma City to answer this one. **

A. Unfortunately there is no specific, much less

reputable study on this subject. Given that we’re not

cooking the cells in normal e-stim I would say this is

not much of an issue, especially long term. However

we could be talking about increased cancer or birth

defects, especially with the more powerful toys. My

personal and totally un-medically certified position

would be to worry more about x-ray machines and

especially MRI’s, or anything that involves iodine

injections then your average electrical session.

There are also other considerations to your question.

I don’t think any reasonable study or guess would create

a problem with sperm production but there is evidence,

however slight that you can damage the sperm DNA

with intense and long term exposure to magnetic fields.

If you can wade through that article (and its related

ones), you will see that there is some concern over

increased cancer and Leukemia risks but not enough

you’re prepared for lifestyle changes they may worry you

more then your original question.

LIFE WITH SLAVEBOY

This week has not been “Life with Slaveboy” because

we are in between contracts and Neptune is on slave

vacation. This should really be titled “Life with

Roommate.” Slave vacation means that Neptune has

the privileges of a free man. He has his own pillow no

matter what. As an added touch, I put a piece of

chocolate on it every night – just like a real vacation.

The combination of slave vacation and spring cleaning

is totally rocking my world. This week’s project is the

bedroom. He had warned me to rescue what I needed

for the next week and now all bets are off. He goes

to work on the room. Neither of us can stand me in

there helping/hindering him. I go out to run errands. I

make lunch. I make candles. I work on my computer.

I hear him yell, “Feng shui!!?!! I’ll show you Feng Shui!!”

Perhaps this in response to the Haiku I had written a

while back:

Slaveboy cleans my home

Tidies up my precise mess –

Fucks up my feng shui.

Some people think that slave vacation is a nutty

concept but I believe only a free person can negotiate

and sign themselves into a slave contract. It is also a

not so gentle reminder of how obedient he is on a day

to day basis. It’s so easy to get accustomed to this

and not think about it. The next contract we sign will

be for three years, however we both think that a week’s

slave vacation every April may be a good thing.

TES AND WHEELER

On Wednesday, I attended TES in its new space at 75

Bleecker Street, under VG’s restaurant. I really liked the

new space. It felt very warm and welcoming and the set

up is very conducive for our meetings. I think TES can

be very happy there.

The topic for the meeting was Single Tails. After an

intimate demo, Joe Wheeler talked to us about whips

and took questions. Joe is one of the best braided whip

makers out there. I have had a 20 plait of his since

1995 and it was my favorite whip. Unfortunately, while

Joe was scarce for a while a few years back, I had

someone else replace the cracker on the whip and

they just butchered it. It never threw the same again.

I had brought it back to Joe at BR and he said he would

try to fix it or else he would make me a new one.

Well, on Wednesday night, I got a brand new 24 plait

Wheeler signal whip. It’s a big fat beauty. I am very

thrilled. Now I have to take the time to break it in….

AJ GOES TO THE ONERY WOMEN PARTY

I am retail boy, which basically means I don’t get out

too much as I work weekends. I had Sunday off and I had

been seeing announcements for the OW party on several

lists that I am on so I figured I would go. As it happens

I woke up Sunday to snow and decided not to go. (And

I call myself a native Chicagoan.) Glenda talked me into

it. The ride up was a little rough but I am so glad that I

went. Glenda is a lot of fun to travel with and the Ornery

Women really know how to throw a good party.

The play space the OW had was really nice. They had

steel cages, suspension rigs and some basic equipment

made out of not so typical materials. There was a neat

cross-made out of steel (?) and Plexiglas (?). They had

really good finger foods, lots of salt and sugar. Most of

my favorites. The most protein on the table was in the

Reese’s peanut butter cups. There were two bootblacks

and JP did a great job fixing a giant gash on my left boot.

I would have to say that the play space itself was

impressive, but even more impressive were the hosts and

volunteers. Everyone was very nice and very helpful. I am

not from Philly so I did not know a lot of people there. I

cannot tell you how many people went out of their way

to introduce themselves, show me around, introduce me

to others. I know it’s hard to believe, but I am very shy,

so thanks to all those who made me feel so welcome.

One of the added bonuses was that Red was doing a

flogging demo/class. I was very interested in this as I am

(or I should say was) a horrible flogger. I don’t Top much.

Well actually I don’t Top at all. When I first came out I

tried to switch but basically when it was my turn to Top

I just ordered the other person to spank me. One of my

shortcomings as a “Top” was that I couldn’t flog. I could

spank, paddle, slap faces, pull hair And even throw a

pretty decent single-tail, but flogging was impossible for

me.

A bunch of us piled into the food area where Red gave

a talk on techniques, choosing a flogger, etc.. Felice

also had a lot of great insight. Then we all went into

the dungeon where Felice preformed a very brave act;

she let us experiment on her back.

This is what I learned. Red is a very good teacher. It is

hard for me to copy what I see without verbal interaction.

Red was able to use just enough words and verbal cues

to not overwhelm me. After some distance, timing and

confidence adjustments I really got into it. I really got

into it. I was able to find a place of peaceful

concentration and hyper focus that usually escapes

me (ADHD boy). This place was broken only when I

realized that yes I was in fact flogging someone and no

I wasn’t going to commit serious acts of injury.

So Red and Felice tell me that I am a pretty good

flogger. I am honored and grateful for the compliment.

But what does that mean to a bottom that normally does

not Top? It felt good to flog Felice. I was very into it and

yes there was a part of me that wanted to hurt her. While

my instincts to hurt were firing away in the background,

my conscious was very diligent about reminding me that

I am 1) new to flogging and 2) that this was not a

negotiated scene. But it was there, I could feel bursts of

adrenalin race even as my thoughts became slower and

my though process became more methodical.

So the questions remain, do I want to be a Top? Do I

want someone to adore me the way I adore my Tops,

clean my house, perform other acts of service and let

me hurt them? Sure, why not? It all sounds so good.

But here is where the truth lies for me. I do not think

that I could truly be happy if I identified as a Top. I also

do not identify with being a switch. I find true happiness

when I bottom to the will or whip of another. I love

performing acts of service, and I love being appreciated.

I live for the rub on the head and the words thank you or

good boy.

Will I continue to flog? Yes, if I can find people who are

willing to let me hurt them and if the situation/time is

right, I will accept opportunities to be the person “doing

the hitting”. I will not call myself a Top or a switch, nor

will I call the actions of hitting/hurting Topping. I will call

these occasions, acts of service.

So for now, I guess a life as Daddy AJ is not in the

picture for me.

The 20th annual Leather Pride Night Auction will take

THE P+P LEAVES LEATHERPAGE.COM

The origins of Lolita’s Predictions & Predilections began back in 1995.

This has always been the way I stay in contact with my friends. It is

the weekly update to what is happening in my life, what I think is

important in the SM scene and a planning tool for the coming week.

The P+P has evolved into more than a way to stay in touch with my circle

of friends and it now reaches thousands of readers per week.

For the past five years, Joe Gallagher has hosted the web version of the

P+P. Joe’s site, http://www.leatherpage.com, has been a tremendous

resource to the community, providing a space where many leather

columnists could be read. I have been very fortunate to be included.

On more than occasion, Joe and I have had editorial disagreements about

the content of my column. I have always been very clear that these views

are my own (see the disclaimer above). I want to state my opinions freely.

After much soul-searching, I have come to the conclusion that I must pull

the P+P from Leatherpage.com.

BOND CON NYC

I went out to Bond Con in Queens for the day on Friday. What a culture

shock! The main focus was in the exhibit hall with the various bondage

models being the center of attraction. There were all types of girls (and

one guy – Delano) and they really knew how to work the crowds of

“fan boys.” The models flirted and made arrangements to be tied up by

riggers who wanted to show off their tie-up skills. The fan-boys, mainly

single men (or men without their wives), stood around and watched.

Many had cameras and clicked away. They were oddly reminiscent of

Hellfire’s wankers, but these guys had their clothes on and did not touch

themselves.

I hung out with Midori and Michael Blue and offered to perform small acts

of service. The two of them have teamed up to do a fabulous bondage

website (http://www.beautybound.com). Midori had a bondage frame with

her and suspended three different models during the time I was there.

She would look at them, study their bodies and ask them questions about

their level of experience and then just go to work. She took extra care with

a model who had never been suspended before. Once the models were up,

she would add some rope and loosen others and the suspension would

morph into a whole other position. Midori is very fluid.

I saw a bunch of people I know. Saw Lady J whom I hadn’t seen in years

and she looked great. The guys from Stationhouse were there and they

THE REST OF THE WEEKEND

M Blair presented at Lesbian Sex Mafia on Friday night. She taught all

the safety aspects and techniques of Cutting and then did a demo which

turned out beautifully. I really like the way she teaches – she is very

organized and complete.

After a bite to eat with other LSM folks, I headed over to meet up with

Boymeat and Neptune at the LURE. The LURE was packed! It seems

everyone who came into NYC for the Black Party and Night of 1000

Gowns and showed up at the LURE. We got to see a bunch of people

and catch up with them. It was also a big night for Neptune. Friday

was the last day of his slave contract and the beginning of slave

vacation. How is it that he always ends up uncollared at the LURE

during slave vacation? That drives me nuts. He’s too cute to be loose

at the LURE. At Midnight it was also Neptune’s birthday. He is now

25, which is a great age because that is when your car insurance rates

go down. To celebrate, he smoked cigars with Boymeat.

On Saturday night, I met up with Boymeat at Paddles. There was also

a huge crowd there with many from Bond Con and I had to wait in a line

outside to get in. It was tough finding a spot to play, but we finally did,

and I beat the crap out of him. Floggers. Unrestrained. He would yell

in a primal way and jump up and down. I felt very strong and I hit him

very hard. A few times he sank to one knee, “Get up! I’m not done.”

He would get up and we would keep going. Finally, he collapsed on the

floor sobbing. Oh, yeah.

On Sunday, I work Neptune up early (1pm) and dragged him out to the

TES Party, held at Nutcracker Suite. TES has not played at the Nut in

over a year and much of the place has been renovated. It looked really

beautiful. In celebration of his birthday, I allowed him to pick the scene

and he chose bondage. I took my prettiest rope and laid down a harness

and then layered more over his arms and legs. The colors wove in and he

giggled, remembering our first date four years ago when I tied him up at

Hellfire, “I seem to always inspire you to break symmetry.” I chose some

vet wrap that color-coordinated with the rope and wrapped his head. I

added bungie cords so that he could bounce. We were in the medical

room where I turned off the white lights and kept the blue lights on low.

It looked really pretty. I need to get more bungie cords.

BEST WISHES TO PAT McCARTY

Long time readers will remember me posting occasionally about my friend,

Pat McCarty of New Orleans. About 4 years ago Pat was diagnosed with a

rare form of carcinoid cancer. It is a slow growing type of cancer. Over the

past few years he has taken chemo and radiation treatments and takes daily

doses of medication for the cancer. Two weeks ago he took a turn for the

worse. This type of cancer causes numerous tumors and the tumors have

now infiltrated his spinal cord. They did emergency surgery 2 weeks ago to

remove one of the tumors that was pressing on his spinal cord. At this point

he is still in the hospital and is undergoing rehab. He is wheelchair bound

and unable to walk or stand by himself due to paralysis from the tumors on

his spinal cord. They have hope that he will get some movement back in his

legs…how much they are unsure of since almost every vertebrae in his spine

has these tumors. He starts radiation tomorrow to see if they can shrink the

tumors.

Pat needs the support and prayers of the community. He does not have

email access right now and probably won’t have it for the next couple of

TES FEST & NYC FETISH MARATHON

In mid May, New York City’s Fetish and BDSM communities are uniting

to present The NYC Fetish Marathon. This four-day non-stop festival of

alternative sexuality will be anchored by both The Black & Blue Ball X,

kicking things off on Thursday, May 15, and The Eulenspiegel Society’s

3 day kink extravaganza TES FEST, May 16 – 18. Many events, both large

and small, will be happening all over the city during the weekend including

around-the-clock dungeon access to NYC’s most famous public dungeon,

Paddles until the wee hours of Monday morning.

The Eulenspiegel Society, 2003 winner of Pantheon of Leather’s Large

Club of the Year Award, will host TES Fest at The Hotel Pennsylvania.

The hotel, one of the five largest in the City, is located at 7th Avenue at

33rd Street, in the heart of midtown and directly opposite Madison Square

Garden and Amtrak’s Penn Station so it is the single easiest hotel to get

to and find in all of Manhattan. Macy’s, the world’s largest department store,

is one block up the street. The Empire State building is around the corner.

The Theater District is a few blocks away. Prices for TES Fest go up April 1.

BRYAN “PUP” MULLIKIN

Beloved American Leatherboy 2001, Bryan “Pup” Mullikin departed this

life Thursday March 13 at his home in Chicago. He was 33 years old. Pup

graced the Washington, DC leather community from 1999 until his May

2002 move to the Windy City. He had lived in New York and San Francisco

prior to the Nation’s Capital. He was no stranger to the Leather Community

across the country, he will always be known for his warm smile and

effervescent personality.

He proudly served as President of the DC Boys of Leather for two years.

He worked hard to help boys’ clubs across the country. It was his personal

mission to impress upon the community the importance of respect for all

individuals including his fellow boys.

Pup is survived by his mother and father of Northern Kentucky. He was

their only child. Burial will be held in his family’s hometown. Brian’s family

is in need of assistance with the burial arrangements, and several people

and clubs have already made generous donations. The DC Boys of Leather

have volunteered to collect donations on behalf of the community and
