The TES Bondage Group presents
“Tie for Two” with David Lawrence

A rope workshop to explore hands on tying for the sensual expression and enjoyment between two people. This exploration will involve a discussion touching upon such topics as trust, connection, the space that rope provides to the top and bottom and how vulnerability opens the door to magical results. For the riggers in this workshop we will share knowledge with you that will enable you to go with the flow of a rope scene that completely mesmerizes your partner and vice versa. For those who have yet to bring rope into your play together or who have shared this magical connection this workshop will inspire you to new heights.

Come on and join us! Needed for workshop: Four to six 30-foot lengths and your partner. Or just come and
watch.

$4 for members of TES and other SM/leather orgs; $8 for others
260 West 36th Street, 3rd floor, NYC
Doors open 7:30pm (no early arrivals please!); meeting begins at 8pm

I personally love David Lawrence’s style of teaching. He inspires everybody to tie along with him. Even experienced players find that he teaches a new trick or two. I am really looking forward to this class. He does beautiful work. Check out his website at http://www.shibariartphotography.com/

“Modified Eros” – Save the dates!

October 21st, 2007 · No Comments

On November 9, 2007 erotic art and body modification meet in “Modified Eros,” a photographic celebration of bodies modified with tattooing, piercing, corsetry, and scarification. The show is curated by Audacia Ray, features photography from BellaVendetta.com, and will run through January 18, 2008 at Arena Studios in CYC, a non-traditional art venue, BDSM play space, and organizer of the Black & Blue Ball.

Some of the photographs in the show have previously appeared on Bella Vendetta’s eponymous website, where she showcases the erotic fantasies of people whose imaginations run on the taboo side. The pieces in the show represent not just the photographers’, but also the models’ predilections. “It’s hard to get a gallery to show images like this because they don’t see body modification as an art form and they don’t think of modified people’s bodies as beautiful,” says Ms. Vendetta.

Audacia Ray, who has curated $pread magazine’s “Sex Worker Visions” shows for the past two years, says, “The photographs I’ve selected for this show invite people to appreciate the erotic beauty of body modification, though some images, like photographs of suspension, blood play, and genital modifications, will make folks squirm a little too.”

During the run of the show, Arena Studios welcomes the public to view the art daily from 12 pm to 8 pm or by appointment. Arena will also host an evening with Lolita Wolf, a BDSM player, educator, author, and TES Emeritus Board Member, who will present a hands-on workshop on play piercing in the gallery on Wednesday, November 28th from 7 to 9 pm. The workshop costs $25 to attend and will arm attendees with knowledge about tools, supplies, safety, technique, preparation and aftercare.

“Modified Eros” features photographs by seasoned artists and fresh talent alike and will display images by Patrick Reardon, Brian Mackey, and many others. Many of the models and photographers will be present at the public opening for the show, which will take place at Arena Studios, 407 Broome Street Suite 7A from 7-10 pm on Friday, November 9, 2007.

Question Authority

October 20th, 2007 · 1 Comment

J.K. Rowling says that Dumbledore is gay.

For my friends who like chastity games: TimeLock.

Walgreen’s is opening a store around the corner from me. This should not be noteworthy, but there’s already a Duane Reade one block north and a Rite-Aid one block south and a CVS one block east. Enough already! These chains are messing up my neighborhood.

So, you know I got fucking Halloween on my brain now. What the fuck am I going to wear?

The Village Voice awards the title of “Best sex-toy shop for sniffing leather” to Purple Passion. Yay! And Purple Passion is also on Gridskipper’s map for New York’s Classiest Sex Shops.

You know I am a macaroni and cheese freak. Well, I finally made it to S’MAC. I had the Brie with shitake mushrooms, figs and the bread crumb topping. It was yummy. I would go back.

Clowns and Masters

October 19th, 2007 · No Comments

Last night I went to The NYC Clown Theatre Festival where New York Downtown Clown was hosting the Clown Olympics. I got there and they asked me if I was entering. I never even thought of that. It would be an amazing goal for next year. But for this year, being in the audience was a lot of fun. There were four events but you did not have to enter them all: Solo Trips and Falls, Duo Slapstick, Eccentric Dance and Kiddie Pool Synchronized Swimming. I laughed a lot.

So, NYDC has monthly skill based workshops for clowns – not for people who want to learn how to be a clown but for people who already are clowns. So, who decides if somebody is already a clown or if they are just a wanna-be clown? Is there some kind of clown certification? Will I be rejected by the clown community if I just show up? I mean, I do have the outfit so I could make the dress code.

So, wait a second. This all seems oddly familiar. Oh, yes, here it is… On Tuesday, TES will host an evening where Sir Stephen and Soulhuntre will debate the idea of Master Certification:

Can we define what makes one a Master? Does that title have to be earned? If so, who decides when it is earned? Can we define what a Master is in any way that does not exclude someone who deserves the title? Questions such as these elicit a passion response within the BDSM community. Recently Sir Stephen has been trying to formulate explicit criteria for what makes one a “Master”. He will debate Soulhuntre on the very idea of defining Mastery as well as the specific criteria that he has proposed.

I’m definitely going to go to that TES meeting. It will be a lively discussion, I’m sure.

I’m very NYC focused here, but this is really freaking me out. Because of gaybashing, San Francisco’s Castro, the gayest neighborhood in the world, is shutting down on Halloween and campaigning to tell people to stay away. Wow.

CDC: Drug-resistant staph deaths may surpass AIDS toll. Scary stuff. One friend of mine had the flesh-eating type and is now missing a huge chunk of his back.

I didn’t write up Folsom Street Fair yet, but Calico did and her post has lots of photos including a couple of me!

Submit your films and videos to CineKink by November 15. More info here.

People change. They are affected by positive experiences. Someone who told me no a couple of years ago has now said yes. That makes me very happy.

Can’t Start a Fire Without a Spark

October 17th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Last weekend Jack Rinella spoke about polarity and how that enhanced power exchange. Now, Jack explained that usually his thoughts are not original, but that he will structure and present certain ideas in a different way. Sometimes I agree with Jack and think he is brilliant; other times I think he’s wrong and that he is a dweeb. Either way, I do like the guy a lot.

So, enough about Jack. I want to talk about polarity. Why would a bottom be a lowly, worthless worm? Why would a top be superior and up on a pedestal and worshipped? Why is it so hot when the Princess dominates the janitor? Or when she goes slumming and kisses the maintenance man? Because polarity is hot. Like the attraction of magnets that click together and must be pried apart. Like two posts on a stun gun where the electrical arc jumps from one post to the other. And the further apart those posts are, the bigger the arc has to be in order to jump from the one post to the other. So the bottom is degraded in status and the top is elevated. Here we have two people who play roles and redistribute the power to create a polarity, which is really exciting. Hot, hot, hot.

But, wait! This is not the green light for people to now write me and tell me that they are not worthy. No, that is not attractive to me at all. In fact, it is a huge turn-off. Am I confusing you? Does it sound like I am of two opposing views here? No, no, no. The polarity – the power imbalance – is an artificial creation between two equals. It’s a fantasy that is acted out. And we both know that the reality is that we are equals and we are smart, fun, sexy and have lives.

There’s good stuff, too.

October 15th, 2007 · 4 Comments

Congratulations to John Weis, Mr East Coast Rubber 2007! JoeMyGod reports on the drama when they gave the sash to the wrong guy.

I am back from North Carolina. Highlights from the trip:

  1. I had a really hot scene with a woman who may move to NYC soon. Yum yum!
  2. Meeting Boymeat‘s buddy, Kathryn.
  3. Eating cheese ‘n eggs at Waffle House.
  4. Jack Rinella claiming that he is too wimpy to bottom to me and that I should put that in my blog with a link.

My other book/DVD is now finally available from Amazon, too!
CBT in a Nutshell by Lolita Wolf

I love being a New Yorker! And our subway system rocks!

Drew is a hot, trans-friendly gay man looking for a demo bottom for Chain Bondage in Philadelphia on November 3rd.

Funny video of the day: Larry Craig, but very funny.
