We went to see Equus and we got to sit on stage. Cheap seats, very close, but a bit uncomfortable (I’m getting old.) I really liked the ponyboys: how they were outfitted and how they moved. Afterward the Daniel Radcliffe groupies waited for him to come out the stage door. It was cold. We headed […]

Gorge revisited
January 14th, 2009 · No Comments
I first saw Gorge as a video at the In and Out show at PS 1 a couple of years ago. On Friday night, Nayland Blake restaged Gorge at Location One in NYC, but this time with audience participation and it was as much about the audience members than anything else. The piece was an […]

Things I Loathe #7 (in no apparent order)
January 13th, 2009 · 2 Comments
I hate the crunch of salt under my boots when I walk around NYC. What is with all the salt? At the first hint of snow, people are out there spreading salt in huge quantities on the sidewalks. Salt is supposed to be for helping to break up packed ice. It is not a substitute […]

Postcards From The Edge
January 11th, 2009 · No Comments
Today I went to the 11th annual Postcards From The Edge event which is a fundraiser for Visual AIDS. It is a one-day event where about 1500 artists each donate a postcard-sized piece of art. They are signed on the back. You can pick any piece on the wall and buy it for $75. But […]

Vanessa’s Dumpling House
December 31st, 2008 · 2 Comments
The best cheap eats in the city is Vanessa’s Dumpling House, 118 Eldridge Street near Broome Street. Their specialty is the dumplings, but I never get them. I get the Peking Duck Sesame Pancake Sandwich for $2.25. A little greasy but I love it! If I am really hungry I get one of their fruit […]

You don’t know how lucky you are, boy

My plane landed at 9:40pm on Saturday night and I was at the New York Boys of Leather Bar Night at the Stonewall Inn before midnight. I quickly reassimiliated myself back into NYC and got to hang out with my NYC friends. Vacation is nice but it’s good to be back! Boymeat and Jake

Nayland Blake’s opening was last night. It was crowded and the work looked great. My favorite photo from the evening is from dinner afterwards: Nayland and Maura Reilly, the curator for the exhibit. I like her. Some people think he looks like a roadie.
