Sex 2.0 is an “unconference” that will take place May 9th at a hotel in Silver Spring, MD near Washington, DC. The event will focus on the intersection of social media, feminism, and sexuality.
How is social media enabling people to learn, grow, and connect sexually? How is sexual expression tied to social activism? Does the concept of transparency online offer new opportunities or present new roadblocks — or both? These questions, and many more, will be addressed within a safe, welcoming, sex-positive space.
It seems like the hot new model for events is the unconference. I loved the kinkforall unconference where everyone was a participant and helped make the event happen. Sex 2.0 is a modified version where speakers sign up ahead of time. Unlike kinkforall, it is not free. However, registration is a very reasonable $30 until April 9th. And scholarships are available. Nikol Hasler of the Midwest Teen Sex Show is the keynote speaker. Other speakers include Anita Wager, Audacia Ray, Cunning Minx, Elizabeth Wood, Match, Mollena Williams and Renegade Evolution.Sex 2.0 has a bunch of events planned around it including a Bound Not Gagged Happy Hour on Thursday night, an outing to a gun range on Friday, a Sex Toy Reviewer Meetup hosted by Erik Van Riper of sextoy.com on Friday night, Brunch on Sunday and an Erotic Spanking class at WholeDC taught by me on Sunday evening.
