The service for my mother is tomorrow and I am grateful that some of my close friends will be attending. I am taking care of myself in some classic ways. I split a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Coffee Heath Bar Crunch ice cream with Boymeat, went on a mini shopping spree at Target and went to S’mac with other friends for macaroni and cheese. However, i’s not all self-indulgence; I was the one to identify the body and make most of the arrangements and I was the one who had to call the bio-family and my mother’s friends. I am so grateful to have Boymeat in my life who has taken a lot of the burden off me – he’s been dealing with my friends. And I am grateful to my bio brother who has dealt with other stuff – we share the work in a very complementary manner.

And thanks to everyone who has commented called, texted and emailed. It means a lot to me.
