I was overwhelmed with responses to last week’s P+P. So much support from so many people. Life goes on for me and, although I am still sad, I am not holding any animosity in my heart.

My life is full of plans and I have a busy July. This weekend I head down to DC with a group of friends for Midori’s Rope Dojo (http://www.the-crucible.com/Midori’sRopeDojo.htm). I hear that there are still a couple of spots left in the class. The next weekend Boymeat and I go to APEX Summer Bash (http://www.albanypowerexchange.com/Events/summer_bash.htm) where we each teach a couple of classes. I look forward to more playing outside. And then, at the end of July, I will teach a class and be an emcee at the Master/slave Conference in Washington DC (http://www.masterslaveconference.org). I went to this event last year and it was charged with energy.

AOL PROBLEMS WITH THE P+P

THE SUPREME COURT

There’s huge power in the Supreme Court and it is the President who selects which judges will sit there. What can you do about it? Your power is local and must be viewed as long-range. You must educate yourself about the judges that run in the elections and you must make an effort to vote for the ones that you believe are going to best represent your interests. Too many times I hear people whining about our elected officials and judges but they have not done their duty – they did not vote.

Bound & Gagged (my favorite jerk-off material) has closed down. A real end to an era. The new 2257 law and the withdrawal of their credit card services has just made it too difficult to stay in business and Bob Wingate feels that the US Government is just going to make publishing more and more difficult.

The first issue of MACH21 seems to be its last as well. This was a project of Joseph Bean’s and there is a slim chance, it might get published again without photography (2257 again) and wothout Joseph as editor.

NCSF TEAMS UP WITH FSC

The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF) and the Free Speech Coalition (FSC) have formed an official partnership! As of July 1, 2005, two of the nation’s leading organizations dedicated to the rights
of consenting adults and free speech team up to network, educate the public on overlapping issues, raise funding, and reach out to new members.

This announcement is being made on the heels of the Free Speech Coalition’s filing a constitutional challenge to injunction against U.S.C. 18, Section 2257, a record-keeping and labeling law which is being expanded to include the Internet and has had a direct effect on leather, fetish, and swingers groups, their publications and outreach efforts, as well web sites and the wide variety of businesses that serve these communities.

BRENDA HOWARD

Brenda Howard passed away last week ay 58. She had a long battle with cancer. I remember Brenda as the facilitator of the Polymorphous Perverts and Switchables SIG at TES and from NLA:Metro NY. She was a leader of the Gay Liberation Front and Gay Activists Alliance in the early post-Stonewall movement. Brenda was also one of the organizers of the first Christopher Street Liberation Day march in 1970 (now known as Gay Pride Parade). In her later years she ran the Bi SM Group. She is survived by her partner, Larry.

A Memorial for Brenda is scheduled for July 31, noon at: The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender
Community Center 208 W 13th Street, New York, NY 10011.

YAHOO DELETES GROUPS

IF you are running a YahooGroup, back up those member email addresses. Yahoo just deletes groups overnight and never lets anyone know their reasons for doing so. TES-Talk is the latest to go. Luckily TES-Friends is a good back-up because it is on a server which is kink-friendly. And TES is working on a new official list.

CINEKINK UPDATE

The third annual Cinekink NYC is scheduled for October 18-23, They are seeking films and videos, of any length and genre, that explore a wide diversity of alternative sexuality including – but by no means limited to – S/M, leather and fetish, bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, roleplay, swinging, polyamory and non-monogamy, and gender bending. The selected works may also be chosen for inclusion in a planned series of traveling CineKink programs. Film and video submissions have a final postmarked deadline of July 15th.

This weekend is a special screening of the best of Cinekink.
