This is absolutely wild! I have permission to write about this, but I can’t say who my benefactor is. I will call him Ben. Ben is somebody who has been reading my blog for the past year or so. We email every few days. I am the one he can talk to about certain things.

Anyway, Ben wanted to do something nice for me, because he enjoys my writing and I have been such a good email friend. He suggested that we finally meet and we made a date for lunch today at the Metro Diner. Ben looks like he’s 70 or so, but he’s in good shape, shaved head and dressed in blue jeans. I enjoyed lunch and figured that would be it. But no, he paged his limo – not a huge limo – and told me he wanted to take me to see something. We headed over to the east side and went to this garage and there was this dark blue Ferrari with a tan leather interior.

He waved me to the driver’s seat. “Get in!”
“Really?”
“Really.”

I got in and Ben got in the passenger seat and we took off. Oh, the power of this car. Just listening to it was heaven.

“It’s a Modena, not a Spider,” he said.
“Yeah, haha, it’s the cheap Ferrari.”
He pouted.

“Hey! It’s a fabulous car. A dream car.” I did not want to hurt his feelings. “Really, I was just kidding.”

“Do you want it?”
“Excuse me?”
“This can be your car. My gift to you. No strings attached.”
“Oh, I can’t accept that.”
“Yes, you can. It would make me happy. And I’ll pay the insurance, garage and the upkeep. I’ll even give you a gas card and an EZ-Pass.”

I was really flabbergasted.
“And what do you want from me?
“Just keep writing.”

So, wow! I just can’t believe how lucky I am.

Now I just gotta wait for the paperwork to be done. I’ll take possession after I get back from San Francisco.
