A manhole cover was thrown through one of the plate glass windows of Benham Gallery in downtown Seattle early Easter morning, March 23. On Saturday, March 22, while the gallery was open, someone also smeared feces on the window. This vandalization was apparently done by someone who was offended by the Erotic Beauty Show, which exhibited photographs of transgendered people by David Steinberg, Paul Dahlquist, Fiona Aboud, and Sean Newman.
In an effort to chance to maintain the Dark Odyssey community and promote discussion between events, Viviane has set up an email list for people who have attended any of the DO events. Kerry and friends
Frolicon is pretty much a regional event. Except for me and
Boymeat and Kate, there weren’t too many other people from NYC. We were pretty surprised to see Kerry there. A good surprise.
The event is huge. They sold out the host hotel (a Hilton – very nice!) and there had to be over 1000 attendees. Of course, the elevators were a problem. Boymeat and Kathryn got stuck for over an hour late Saturday night.
The people at Frolicon are very friendly. It seems really easy to meet people there and to talk to them. Most people dress up. And not just at night, but the whole time. Lots of costumes. Like a sci-fi convention, but sexier. Cameras are allowed everywhere except in the kink track classes and the dungeon.

I know this guys looks like a maniac, but he was really friendly. However, I was relieved that I wasn’t dressed as Poupon Toot when we met.

Vi Johnson
Frolicon has a lot of parties. There is a concoction battle on Friday night and a party battle on Saturday night. The drinking can get very serious. We really didn’t go to any of the parties this year except for Vi’s Green Fairy party on Friday night. She offered maybe a dozen different types of absinthe and a bunch of different libations. I chose the blackberry liquor mixed with an almondy absinthe and it was delicious. Definitely got a little bit tipsy.

One of the highlights (for me) of Frolicon was getting to spend some time with Spanky The Clown. He was scary but a good kind of scary. He touched me places and even used his cigar but he did not get my blue dress dirty. He liked all the good little girls and boys.
The Story Lady is friends with Spanky and she read us the true story of the Three Little Pigs. I had no idea that it was so perverted!
We also got to eat lots of candy and cupcakes. And there were a few accidents…

Yesterday was HMQ’s birthday. She celebrated with an open house entertaining all sorts of visitors. I dropped in to hang out for a while and have a slice of yummy birthday cake. There were lots of people from TES and the Imperial Court. She allowed me to take this picture of her, but made me promise not to tell anyone her age.
HMQ has a special place in my heart, because she was the one who encouraged me to start teaching at TES. She really pushed me into it! I am very thankful to her for giving me advice and getting me started.
